Healthcare Assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.
Tor Martin-Siddall is the Operations Manager and is responsible for the day to day running of the practice with a particular focus on the financial aspects of the business. She is supported in her role by Jane Cartwright who is Senior Receptionist.
We have a dedicated team of reception staff who are here to help you. They make appointments, take messages, help with general enquiries and aim to offer a first class service to you.
The practice secretary will make sure the doctors’ referrals are sent promptly to the hospital or other referred services.
Our team of community nurses to care for patients but they also see patients at the surgery. They arrange their own appointments and can be contacted by calling them on a direct line 01246 584903 (answerphone if out of the office).
The Community Matron is based at the surgery who can be contacted via reception. Community Matrons were introduced in 2004 by the government. At Baslow, the Community Matron has become a very important part of the primary care team in identifying those with complex medical needs who are sometimes struggling to remain independent and to identify the extra support that may be needed and keep in regular contact.
A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.
Health Visitors can be contacted by calling reception and leaving a message.
